| 1920 | N. W. Ayer & Son's American Newspaper Annual & Directory | Directory of newspaper, periodicals, and weekly or monthly general interest and trade publications. Listings include; year of establishment, political or other features, editors & publishers names, price of subscription. (Some have the notation "Negro".) Information for the towns includes; population, railroads serving the community, if they have telegraph or express routes and general information on factories & industries.11 pages | 10757AL | $6 |
| 1920 | Directory of Legal Correspondents by Wilber Mercantile Agency | List of collection attorneys "Correspondents" affiliated with the Wilber Agency. Tables show town name, county, if they have a money order or telegraph office, population & Attorney's name.15 pages, plus 10 pages of general information. The general information includes collection laws, but the most interesting are the telegraph codes to be used to ask or answer questions (since telegraphs were not exactly private!). For example to telegraph "Wilber Gold" was to say, "Hear party is in trouble, sued, attached, failed, given lien or about to do so. Secure claim if possible, taking such action as exigencies demand, and your judgment dictates..." For answers, terms such as, "Sharp, Bag, Gate, Door, Fence, Floor, Window", etc... all had meanings for different levels of credit or wealth. | 10760AL | $6 |
